Hi,

Thought it would be nice to see what everyone are doing in their vacations.
Post a pic and some description of your trip. Any places you hated or loved
could be good travel advice for others.

Here is a pic from our boat trip this summer. Went for 12 days down the coast
from Oslo to Sweden with my family and two other boats.
Weather was ok, but we had a few days with gail winds up to 40 kts so we were
stuck in harbor for a few days. Some places we visited;

Oscarsborg - Old Fort, great for the kids!
Son - Typical norwegian coast village.
Fredagshullet - ("Friday hole..") See pic below. Nowegian group of islands.
Strømstad - Swedish town on the border. Great for supplying since the prices are low.
Koster Group of Islands in sweden, very nice!
Skjaerhalden 1 Safe norwegian harbour in bad weather.
Skjaerhalden 2 As you can see, navigating in norwegian waters is not for beginners...
Hankoe - Center for ocean racing sailing in norway

I'm just back from a great family holiday in Turkey, at a place called Akyaka. Here's a link to some of my photos. As you can see, we had fun!

Great idea Morten, we had a fantastic vacation along the north shore of Lake Superior in early July
while going to my youngest nieces wedding at Superior Shores resort in Two Harbors. Much of the
shoreline along Lake Superior looks much like the areas in coastal Norway and Sweden. :D

Hiked back into high falls about 1 mile back in 90F heat, felt great cooling off from the breeze by the falls with my son Tristan.

I didn't really get a vacation this year (bah at needing to work...), so here's one from last year.
My grandparents own a summer house on the coast in Maine. It's a wonderful place. This year was the first summer of my life that I didn't make it there, which was a real bummer. Oh well.

It's a wonderful place.
You know you've been using X-Plane too long on a slow computer graphics card when you go outdoors and are amazed to see blue sky and clouds, not just gray fog.

This year, I spent over three weeks up in North Norway with my family - just above the polar circle
(a bit south of ENBO), where I grew up. Except two and a half day with rain, it was between 18 and 28
degrees C and sun every other day. Family, good wether and some actions, make my best summers.

Every year, I´am up there severel times, but this summer has the best wether as I can remember.

Here are some snap-shots from this summer vacation. A short comment at the bottom of each pic.

Well I had to stay in Alaska during this summer (I usually head off to Boston and Iowa to visit family)...so I ended up finally going dipnetting at Chitina. For a little background, Chitina is a little town where there is a large raging river called the Copper River, and it's famous for taking lives. It's about 330 miles from where I live (Fbks.). Anyways, we went dippnetting for Copper River Red Salmon. For those who don't know what dipnetting is, it's a large 20 foot pole with a large net at the end you put in the water, keep it straight, and hopefully you pull it out with huge salmon in it.
We ended up going on a small charter boat instead of going off of the rocks. Many people do it off of the rocks, but it's more time consuming. Five of us dipnetting on the small boat caught 105 fish total (all big red salmon), and we all met our quotas in two and a half hours (my dad and I were allowed 40, his friend was allowed 25, and this other couple was allowed 40).

We had almost filled three full 55 gallon buckets with fish

spent one day 'Off' - and took a ride through the 'french montagnes' of the Jura (Switzerland). I was suprised that one can look out of the train like this - very impressive!

One of my favourites from the last trip... this one was taken a minute or two after the previous sunset shot, as the sun sank behind the band of clouds.

I've also just signed-up for a flickr account in case anyone is interested in seeing more shots. Not much there at the moment, but will pics as I find the time. :)

No special locations for me but the Iron Maiden concert in my home town was awesome:

That was great, I even got to meet the band.
Then there was the LSZH visit, strictly the airport ... I actually never set foot on Swiss soil  ... but a chance to go flying in a CRJ ... I mean duuh, great fun.

Just was a boatrace outside my house.
Offshore 1 boats. The do about 120-130 kts
and make an INSANE noise. One of them flipped over,
you might see at the end of the clip.
Also 5-6 choppers following the boats at low altitude.

On the clip is Spirit of Nprway which won.

Boatrace clip

And anotherone that didnt make it :P
