XP9 is just out and everyone is offcourse excited about it :)

As many of you probably have noticed, there are "issues" that
needs to be solved before porting e.g the 757 and MD80 to v9.
The panels are obvious, but also flightmodel has changed somewhat.
New sound system, livery system etc. Probably more that we havn't found yet.

Experience also tells us that when a new version comes, it's not
really stable and good enough until around 9.10-9.20. Flight model
e.g. will likely get adjusted several times in the versions to come.

So, XPFW will not be in a hurry to update our aircraft to v9.
WHEN we start doing so, priority will be given to the active projects
and those older projects that we intend to maintain. Some of the v8
aircraft will not get updated at all. Exactly which ones we don't know yet, thats
an ongoing internal discussion. But the trend will be fewer and better aircraft.

So thats the status at the MOMENT. So PLEASE don't start asking when this and that
aircraft will be v9, we have no idea yet.... ;) Version 8 will still be our focus for some time ahead.

Yes, this is very wise.
We have seen many strange things change with V8.

Pluigns should not have a problem.
Our glue has changed in V9 to support our new SDK 2.00.
However we have made sure that this is backward compatible.
I have been testing this and V9 for a while now and all my plugins run without any problems.

I'm secretly hoping that the 733 gets a "makeover" to the same degree of the 757 :)

That would be really nice. It'd also be cool to have many versions of the 737, like the -200, -400, -700 (with and without winglets) -800 (with and without winglets) and especially the -900.

Morten and the team have the right idea. I haven't even downloaded V9 beta because i dont have enough ram and also because I know there are going to have to be a lot of changes of aircraft, just like from version 7 to 8. I hope the process is not too crazy.

I must agree with Six7 on this one. Don't get me wrong, the present 733 is brilliant, but I'm hoping for an overhaul with the reversers, spoilers, moving engine blades and maybe a choice between a digital and steam gauge panel like on the MD-82. And the 3d copilot is in dire need of a face lift

And don't forget about the old 727

A few more notes regarding the transition to v9:

Before v9 is final we wont release v9 B757 beta versions. We can make hacked preview aircraft available but don't use them for beta testing.
There will be at least one more v8 B757 beta. It will be released sometime late December before I leave on a 2 month vacation.
I have nevertheless started to work on new v9 features for the object files. When I return in February 99% of work will focus on version 9.

Regarding the 737NG we have agreed with Benedikt Stratmann that we postpone any major updates and let him go ahead with his OBJ-format 737. Building the same aircraft at the same time is a waste of resources better spent on other projects. I wont rule out a classic 737 overhaul though....need to talk with Benedikt first......

Have you checked the X737 Project? It will cover a couple of 737 series and BBJ. It works well with XP9. They have many liveries.
