Hey all-
Well as you may have noticed, things have slowed down a bit around here. To put it quite simply this is due to the stretched schedules of many of the XPFW team, and the fact that XP is now entering a new era for developers that many just don't have the time to adapt to. While there are a number of us still working to bring you all the quality of work you expect, the simple fact is there is more work than can be done by us. Therefore, we are currently recruiting the for the following positions:
We seek:
3D modelers with experience in AC3D and/or Blender (preferably Blender), with experience building aircraft in particular
Photoshop gurus with experience doing aircraft paints, artwork, texturing, and panel design.
Plane-Maker gurus with significant knowledge of acf building, construction, implementation, and testing in XP version 9.
Programmers with experience building plug-ins using the SDK.
The best applicants will have experience in multiple if not all of the aforementioned applications. For example, a photoshop guru should know how to do the art for a panel, and do a basic build in XP. Plane-Maker gurus should be able to do basic things in AC3D or Blender, and be comfortable placing objects in PM. The more skills you have, the better.
Furthermore, you should understand that while we are very lax about deadlines (IE we don't really have them), you should be very motivated to get projects going, and be willing to spend at least 5 hours a week working on them (although we're not going to hunt you down if you have a busy week or two).
Perks include:
-Access to features, planes, XP versions, Developer information, and scenery before everyone else
-The oppertunity to learn from some of our senior XPFW team who have a WEALTH of information to share
-The oppertunity to work on projects that are the cutting edge of flight simulation
-A welcoming into a very tight knit, elite group
So, if you meet the criteria, please contact me via PM. All applicants will be asked to submit a sample of their original work for review. The number of qualified applicants will determine how many we will accept. Looking forward to meeting our new team members!
The X-Plane Freeware Team
*Keep in mind all, we will look at anything submitted...so if you're interested, do not hesitate to apply!

Do you need a texture artist? I have quite a bit of photoshop experience, I've done close to 100 aircraft repaints for aircraft in x-plane and when I'm using a paint kit, it looks almost real if I say so myself. I can also make a paint kit if needed. Before I got into flight simulation, I was a graphic artist (as a hobby, I'm only 16 now) and among the graphic art community, I was ranked as high intermediate on a scale that goes, novice, moderate, intermediate, professional. I'd say that even if I don't have previous experience with it, I can probably quickly figure out anything texturing. And I'm learning AC3D slowly but I don't expect to have the skill to do anything at the level of any of the XPFW development team for a year or more.
Here are some repaint examples-
an early repaint made with a photo from airliners.net basically laid on top of the paint and moved around and manipulated to fit.

had parts of both delta liveries finished, so the two were combined to show the progress.

with some minor editing by a friend who added the registration number and american flag.

a BMI preliminary repaint for Dan's ERJ140. I will improve it and release it to the community soon.
And here are some of my graphic art examples from before I got into flight simulation.

I think that this shows that I know my way around photoshop and if I put my mind to it, i can do anything texturing in photoshop.
EDIT- Sorry about posting instead of PMing, I caught that you wanted to be PMed the second time I read through it.
